Kamel Awayda
Rotation Student
Kamel Awayda (he/him) was born in Syracuse, NY and completed his bachelors in biochemistry at the University of Rochester. He previously worked on human tRNA modification and divergent CRISPR systems.
Kamel is currently enrolled in the University of California, San Francisco’s MD/PhD program. Kamel hopes to use his training towards a career centered around community healing and global health justice. Kamel is excited to join the Javid Lab as a rotation student during the Spring of 2024.
Outside of research and classes, Kamel works with multiple advocacy groups in the city of San Francisco, and multiple UCSF student organizations.
