Helen Zhang
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Helen (she/her/hers) grew up in China and is attending UC Berkeley for their undergraduate degrees in Molecular and Cell Biology, and Nutritional Science. Their first lab job is working on insulin resistance and diabetes progression model using stable isotope and mass spectrometric methods under Dr. Hellerstein. During undergrad they enjoy learning about various areas in biology (metabolism, endocrinology, immunology, herpetology, etc), anything related to automobiles, and doing interesting engineering projects such as building a concrete canoe to compete with other universities on the west coast.
When not in the lab, Helen can be found backpacking/hiking, driving around, and exploring different beaches and cool buildings in the Bay Area.
